LABDA, as it is known, is the shortened name for Leeds and Bradford Dyslexia Association situated in West Yorkshire. The Association was formed in 1987, we are a group of parents, teachers and others whose aim is to help people of all ages by providing information and support, and to promote the positive aspects of dyslexia.

LABDA is the local area group affiliated to the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) offering a wide range of support:

• We offer a helpline service to help all dyslexic people wherever we can

• A Befriender service for parents who are experiencing difficulties with schools

• Computer club for children from the age of 8 years old

• Acitivities jointly with the BDA

• A library service of dyslexia related books

BDA is the national voice of dyslexic people and their main aims are:

• Lobbying for changes in the education system at government level
• Encouraging better awareness of dyslexia in Teacher Training programmes

• Securing better support for students at university

• Providing support and training for local Dyslexia Associations

Offering training to teachers and teaching assistants throughout the country.
